Marie's 2011 Booker Challenge Post

I'm going to participate in 2011 Complete Booker Challenge at the Booker's Dozen level, with an eye to completing 12 Booker-Prize-winning (or nominated) books this year.

I don't have a complete list yet; I have a stack of Booker winners unread in my TBR pile (more than a dozen!) and unheard-of numbers of long- and short-listed titles, so this is a great opportunity to work my way through. My goal is to read one winner a month and maybe a nominee or two here and there as time and interest allow. So far in 2011 I've read
  • Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively (winner 1987)
  • Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner (winner 1984)
  • Heliopolis by James Scudamore (longlist 2009)
Next up for me is probably going to be Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha for March, since I'm doing all Irish books in March. After that I'll pick something each month that I feel like reading.

It's going to be a great year in Booker books!

  1. Marie, thanks for joining the 2011 challenge! I enjoyed your recently-posted review of Offshore -- did you read that in 2010? I hope as time permits you will cross-post your 2011 reviews here. I always enjoy reading them!

  2. Good luck. I've never had much luck with Booker winners, although I haven't read the ones you have selected. I'm looking forward to your reviews :)

  3. Laura, yes, I read Offshore in 2010 so it doesn't count for this year. I'm behind on my 2011 reviews! :-)
