I'm going to participate in 2011 Complete Booker Challenge at the Booker's Dozen level, with an eye to completing 12 Booker-Prize-winning (or nominated) books this year.
I don't have a complete list yet; I have a stack of Booker winners unread in my TBR pile (more than a dozen!) and unheard-of numbers of long- and short-listed titles, so this is a great opportunity to work my way through. My goal is to read one winner a month and maybe a nominee or two here and there as time and interest allow. So far in 2011 I've read
- Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively (winner 1987)
- Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner (winner 1984)
- Heliopolis by James Scudamore (longlist 2009)
It's going to be a great year in Booker books!
Marie, thanks for joining the 2011 challenge! I enjoyed your recently-posted review of Offshore -- did you read that in 2010? I hope as time permits you will cross-post your 2011 reviews here. I always enjoy reading them!
ReplyDeleteGood luck. I've never had much luck with Booker winners, although I haven't read the ones you have selected. I'm looking forward to your reviews :)
ReplyDeleteLaura, yes, I read Offshore in 2010 so it doesn't count for this year. I'm behind on my 2011 reviews! :-)
