New to the Blog

Hi, my name is Marg, and I normally blog over at Reading Adventures. After avoiding challenges for the last year or so, this year I am signing up on a few, this being one of them.

I have only read 3 Booker winners: The Inheritance of Loss, The Sea (John Banville) and The Line of Beauty.

This year, I am planning to read the following:

Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre
Life of Pi by Yann Martel
True History of the Kelly Gang by Peter Carey
Ghost Road by Pat Barker
Amsterdam: A Novel by Ian McEwan
The Famished Road by Ben Okri

The only concern I have about that list is that Ghost Road is the third book in the series, so just in case I decide not to go with that one my substitute may be Possession by AS Byatt.

Last night I went through and ascertained which of the winners and shortlisted books were available from my library, so I am pretty much ready to go! It was interesting to see that while most of the winning authors had some works available from the library, a lot of times it wasn't the winning books! It looks as though half the challenge might be in finding the books.
