The 2007 shortlist was announced today, narrowing the field from 13 to 6:
- Darkmans by Nicola Barker (4th Estate)
- The Gathering by Anne Enright (Jonathan Cape)
- The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohsin Hamid (Hamish Hamilton)
- Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones (John Murray)
- On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan (Jonathan Cape)
- Animal’s People by Indra Sinha (Simon & Schuster)
Has anyone read any of these books?
I had the long list and was just getting what I could from the library. I read The Reluctant Fundamentalist and am picking up On Chesil Beach in the next week or so. The rest, I haven't seen yet, but at least it's a shorter list now to look for.
ReplyDeleteRead any of them? Shoot, I have only heard of one of them! What's wrong with me? I read a review on "On Chesil Beach," and there's a lot of talk about it on LibraryThing. I will be curious to see what the group thinks...
ReplyDeleteI just posted about this on my blog! You should check out the Chair's blog, he's a funny guy. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any yet, but was a bit disappointed to see that On Chesil Beach made the cut. I'm not a very big McEwan fan, and his latest sounds more like a novella to me.
The Reluctant Fundamentalist isn't much longer, about 160 pages.
